The houses

This section covers the twelve houses, the twelve areas of life across which the sky of your birth is divided: from the 1st house, the house of the body and of first impressions, to the 12th house, the house of retreat and of what plays out away from view. Each entry describes the area, what a planet placed there changes, the axis it forms with the opposite house, and its resonance with a sign of the natural wheel.

Read them in order, from 1 to 12, then read them again by axis, 1 and 7, 2 and 8, 3 and 9, and so on: a house becomes clearer through the one facing it. Keep their rhythm in mind: an angular house launches, a succedent house consolidates, a cadent house adapts and prepares what comes next. An empty house is not a lack: it is read through the ruler of the sign on its cusp.
