The aspects

This section covers the aspects, the angles two bodies form on the circle of the chart. You will find the five major aspects (conjunction, opposition, trine, square, sextile), then the minor ones: semi-sextile, semi-square, quincunx, sesquiquadrate and quintile. Each entry gives the nature of the aspect, how to read it between two planets and the orb that governs its intensity.

Start with the conjunction, which blends two principles into a single focus, then the opposition, the trine, the square and the sextile: these are the aspects that structure a chart. The minor aspects come next, as nuances. An aspect is always read through the two bodies it links, with their sign and their house: a sextile asks to be activated, a square is far more than an obstacle.

AstralPro sets the orb per aspect, the same for every body, the Sun and Moon included: 8° for the conjunction, the opposition and the trine, 7° for the square, 6° for the sextile, 5° for the quincunx, 3° for the sesquiquadrate and the semi-square, 2° for the semi-sextile. The quintile is not in this table. In your natal report, “The complete aspect grid” lists every aspect retained, from the tightest to the widest, with its orb in degrees and minutes and, when it can be read, its direction, applying or separating.
